A very merry Dorkensian Christmas

On Sunday 3rd December a team from The White Horse joined in the festivities at Dorking’s Christmas event, A Very Dorkensian Christmas. Organised by Hello Dorking, the fair was a wonderful opportunity to meet local businesses and residents and share our plans for the refurbishment of The White Horse. Armed with mood boards, menus and sweets, we spent the afternoon chatting to everyone that passed by our stall.

It was an opportunity for us to meet the Dorking community and we were blown away by the support shown for our plans for the inn and our reopening in February 2024. We were also regaled with many tales from locals for whom The White Horse has been their local for many years and we can’t wait to welcome them back through our doors to show them the refurbishment and our gorgeous new look.

It was fascinating to learn so much about the history of Dorking and the notable residents that have resided in this bustling town over the years. From Charles Dickens and Jane Austen to Laurence Olivier, it’s clear that Dorking is a community brimming with creativity. We also heard rumours that Lord Nelson stopped by The White Horse on his way to Portsmouth!

The fair was a shining example of a thriving community that works together to showcase the very best it has to offer and we can’t wait to become a part of the legacy moving forward in not only celebrating the achievements of Dorking but also promoting it as the destination for visitors that it very clearly deserves to be.
