The secrets behind our design inspiration…

As our first pub with rooms, opening The White Horse was always going to be a special project for Heartwood Inns let alone taking on the task of restoring a historic inn that dates back to the 13th century! With 56 bedrooms, a warren of interlinked buildings and listed building status, we wanted to ensure our restoration of the inn did justice to its wealth of original features whilst ensuring that it would be able to weather the next few centuries!

Much thought and attention to detail has been put into the design of the rooms to ensure they offer our guests a relaxed, welcoming environment with an elevated home from home feel. With bespoke headboards and design touches, each room is brimming with character. With thoughtfully designed rooms that work for all guests whether accessible, family friendly or dog friendly, everything has been tried and tested by the Heartwood team.

Restoration and “reuse not replace” were also paramount to this project with so many stunning original features to preserve and showcase whilst our sustainability policies and three star rating from the Sustainable Restaurant Association meant we were mindful of repurposing anything that remained in the site before we considered replacing. This creates beautifully unique pieces of furniture that will stand the test of time and will look right at home in the refurbished inn.

On opening the inn will have 56 beautifully refurbished rooms ranging from “Snug rooms” to our “Really Fancy” rooms and it will be a joy for our guests to stay in any of them, each with their own individual personality. Our guests and locals will be able to enjoy the beautifully refurbished bar and dining room with space for over 100 guests and a gorgeous, sheltered courtyard that is perfect for outdoor dining in the spring and summer.
